C&G2382 - BS7671 Requirements for Electrical Installation IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations

Introduction

The qualification is designed to bring current electricians and related disciplines up to scratch on the latest requirements of BS7671. It comes in two forms, the update and the full exam depending on your recent qualifications and is often asked for by employers.  Although there is no legal requirement to hold the qualification, it can seriously disadvantage you not having it for a number of reasons.

The exam consists of 60 questions to be completed within 120 minutes.  The exam is open book.

C&G2382-20 Update course

Exam Breakdown

To qualify for the update only course, you need to meet the following criteria and hold the relevant qualification:

  • C&G Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: June 2001 (2381)
  • C&G Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Installation (Building and Structures) (2330-07)
  • C&G Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Electrical Maintenance (2330- 08), or
  • C&G Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installation Part Two (2360) (from January 1 st 2004 onwards only)
  • C&G Level 3 Certificate in Knowledge of Electrical Installation Engineering (2351) (only if achieved as part of an Electrotechnical Advanced Apprenticeship completed post 1 January 2004.)

Amendment 1 to BS7671

How will the wiring regulation changes affect the 2382 qualification?

A new qualifications, the C&G 2382-12, will launch on September 30th 2011. The existing 2382 qualifications, both the full and the update options, will close on 31 December 2011. Until this time, students can take either qualification.

Is there an update qualification for the 2382-13 first amendment?

There is no update planned for this replacement qualification, any new entrants will have to do the full course.
