Is the C&G2377 worth doing?
If you work frequently with a portable appliance tester, then yes it is worth having. Similarly, if you are responsible or involved with planned maintenance, then it is a useful qualification. If you never or rarely work with electrical equipment, then only curiousity will be the difference between you having it and not. As the exam is open book, it can be useful to get you into the habit of navigating through it and finding the relevant information you need.
