ECS Card – An apology from the ECS administration team

The demand for ECS cards continues to be strong and by the end of the year we expect to have produced around 46,000 cards, more than we have ever produced in a year.

However the demand for cards has led to problems for customers who try to contact the ECS Administration Team.

During September this year we were receiving up 1,600 phone calls a day and many customers ended up calling several times before they could speak to a member of the team.

The volume of calls has gone down since then but our ability to provide our customers with a good service when they contact us, either by telephone or by email, is still some way short of what I would like it to be.

We have recruited additional staff and we will replace the current ECS website next year with a more responsive and user-friendly site, based on the information which is most commonly sought by our customers.

One piece of good news is that online card renewal is proving very popular and around 90% of our customers are now renewing their cards in this way.

I would like to thank you for your patience and I hope that our service to you in 2017 sees a significant improvement.

Applying online saves £10 surcharge from 2017

You can now apply for your first ECS card and renew your card online – using MyECS or the Employer Portal saves time and allows your card to be processed more rapidly.

Online applications will also save you money next year – from 1st January 2017 all paper applications will incur a £10 administration fee.  To avoid this fee be sure to use MyECS or the Employer Portal for a more straightforward and cheaper application process.
