Draft information about the C&G2357 released
Very little has been forthcoming so far about the changes due to occur in September 2010 to the Electrotechnical electrical framework. It does appear that the Summit Skills and the ECA are still saying that the qualification cannot be completed unless you have employment within the industry and the draft document backs this up (you can however become a "domestic electrician" still at this point having never so much as worked outside a sheet of plywood with certain providers qualifications). It looks as well at this point that the qualification will only be at Level 3, again a concern of many as very few students will be prepared at this level when they leave schools. There looks to be a reduction in teaching hours overall which, when coupled with the loss of evening and day release classes with people who wanted to get a foothold in the trade, are causing a lot of fears of redundancies within lecturing circles.
