| hi, im looking for advice about obtaining grading as an electrician. My situation is that i have been working in the industry for around 12 years and have worked on both commercial(5 years at heathrow airport and on the new terminal 5 project.) and domestic installations. On a practical level i carry out the same tasks on site as the qualified electricians(under the supervision of our approved electrical foreman). My problem is that when looking for work unless its with a company or electrician that knows my capabillities i have no proof that i can do the job.Its ridiculous i know to have been doing the job for over a decade and not gained the qualifications.I kick myself daily but would like to know if i have to start my formal qualifications as if i have never worked in the industry or is it possible my practical site experience can still help towards a JIB grading as an electrician? |

It depends on what you already have and the upcoming changes. At the moment, I am a little uncertain as we are in a transition. Have you spoke to the JIB? _________________ Thank you for visiting Electrical Qualifications. Please feel free to ask questions here or email us at info@electricalqualifications.co.uk.
