I am teaching 2330 level 2 and as you know unit 1 covers health and safety, I teach indecently at 3 different establishments, and I seem to come up with conflicting answers to this question.

What is statutory? Is The Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Provision and Use of Work Equipment 1998
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health 1999, Personal Protective Equipment at work Regulations 1992 and Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences regulations 1995. Now you may be thinking well you should not be delivering the course if you don’t know, well I believed I did know as instructed by BB course notes and my own learning from 2381 and 2391, I believed they were all stat apart from BS7671 – regs. However I have had one student come up to me and say “ Trevor Lindsey says they are not stat", on further investigation another two books said in one paragraph stat only to follow two pages later with non stat. When I asked my esteemed collages at two establishments, I was told oh I am not sure I always assumed they were stat.

Any one care to comment?

Thanks for the post.

To answer your question, you are right, they are all statutory instruments. The Trevor Linsley book can be misconstrued, it does seem to say they are not. Perhaps at the time of writing they had not yet been passed?

Anyway, here is your proof just in case!

Hope this is of some help to you, I know what it's like when you are pretty sure you are right and someone plants that little seed of doubt.
